Norfolk Spring Watch.Spring Watch at Lower Wood Farm is enjoyed by many guests. Our owl box is home to a resident pair of Barn owls who raise young each year. Guests spend time early evening watching the parent’s hunt to feed the young through June and July and those guests lucky to be here when the young fly the box have a special treat. Spring sees the departing of wild geese that winter here and the return of the swallows that nest here for the summer. The coast in alive with sea birds nesting from the little terns at Winterton, moving along the coast changing habitat bring different species to view. At Lower Wood Farm we have a selection of wild birds from robin, blackbird, thrush, green/spotted woodpecker, wag tails to the cuckoo singing through May, all are nesting and busy feeding young. Wildlife includes fox, hares, muntjac and wild deer. Our duck pond is very active with over 40 ducklings raised each year. With our moorhens and rescue geese there is always plenty to watch and enjoy sitting in the quiet area near the pond. We focus on crops being grown by the local farmers with information for children and "parents" being able to tell the difference between wheat and barley, cabbages and sugar beet!.
